Is there a way to include unpaid bills in the costs of a project.  I want unpaid bills to be included in costs when I look at a project on quickbooks online.

Hello Newbys,

Welcome to Community!  I can understand the benefit of including unpaid bills to your customer jobs.  QuickBooks Online Projects, provides the features you need, to ensure all areas of the project are recorded accurately.  I would be glad to assist!

You can add new transactions like invoices, expenses, or estimates to your project. This won’t affect any of your accounts, or change how your transactions are categorized. You just mark them as a part of a project, so you can keep track of all project income and expenses.

Follow these steps to add your existing bills/expenses to a project;

1. From the left menu, open Expenses, then Expenses/Bills

2. Locate and select the transaction you want to add to your project

3. In the Customer/Project column, use the ▼ dropdown menu to select the project you want to add the transaction to
Note:

  • Do this for each expense/bill that you want to add to your project. This is different from the payee for the expense.
  • If you don’t see the Customer/Project column, go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and settings. Then, turn on Track expenses and items by customer from the Expense section.

4. Hit Save and close

You're all set!  The bills/expenses will appear on the project dashboard.

Please feel free to reach back out with other questions. We would be happy to help!
