You're unable to adjust the layout of the Profit & Loss (P&L) report directly, as it mirrors the structure of your Chart of Accounts. If it doesn't look like a statutory report, it's likely because it's set up for internal management only. To fix this, restructure it using sub-accounts.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Click New account, and enter an Account name.
  3. Pick the correct Account type and Detail type from its dropdown menu.
  4. Tick the box next to Make this a subaccount, then select the Parent account it should be under.
  5. Hit Save

If you have existing accounts, you can edit and assign them as sub-accounts under the appropriate parent headings. Once done, run the P&L report and your accounts will be organized under the statutory headings. You can click the triangle next to each parent account to collapse and view only the totals.

Alternatively, you can export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks and reformat them manually, or reach out to your accountant for specialist tools to produce the report in your required format.

Let us know if you need further assistance setting up your sub-accounts, and we'll be happy to help.
