I am looking to see how i can run a report of items on purchase order and sales orders. So i can see if there is balance between ordered and sold products?

I've got an alternative method you can perform to achieve your goal, @rs22. 

Purchase orders and sales orders are non-posting transactions. Thus, they won't affect your report totals, customer's and supplier's balances. With this, there isn't a way to run a single report that shows the balance between ordered and sold products. As a workaround, I'd suggest running two separate reports for them.

First, let's run the Open Purchase Orders Detail report for the ordered products. It lets you view how many items are still on order and how many you’ve received so far. I'll guide you how. 

1. Go to Reports from the left menu. 
2. Select Open Purchase Orders Detail in the Search box and select it. 
3. Set the Report period. 
4. Click Run report. 
5. In the Open Balance column, view the balance of each item.

Second, let's run the Sales by Product/Service Summary report for the sold products. This way, you can view the balance and total sales for each item. Just go back to the Reports menu. Then, enter the report name in the Search box and open it.  

Once done, you can either print or export the two reports to Excel. Then, compare them to see if there's a balance between your ordered and sold products.
