My bank accounts do not balance with quickbooks and when i run a drilldown report i can see uncleared receipts and expenses do these affect anything

Hello Pbrassington-dir, Thanks for reaching out to the Community regarding your bank account not balancing with QuickBooks. Are those uncleared transactions ones which should be part of the balance? If so, yes it would impact it if they were not added. Also, things like duplicate transactions can impact the balances matching, missing transactions or the opening balance being incorrect.

 The best thing to do would be to use the reconcile tool in the cog in the top right of QuickBooks. If you have not done a reconcile before the 1st thing to check would be the opening balance on the chart of account for your bank account is correct. If not, we can go through how to amend it. Once done you can then use the reconcile tool, generally most users do a monthly reconcile so they can close off that period as correct and pinpoint exactly where the difference comes from.
