Why is the budget to actual report not in the new reports? Painful when the PL in new reports can be condensed to 3 balances. Plus - the endless messages " re classic reports being removed. Are QBO keeping the actual budget reports?

I understand your frustration. Navigating sudden reporting changes is incredibly stressful, especially when you are used to a smooth workflow.

To reassure you right away, yes, QuickBooks is absolutely keeping your actual budget reports. The endless messages you see are only about removing the Classic View, not your budget features or data.

QuickBooks Online has switched all reports to the Modern View. You can still find your Budget vs. Actual and Budget Overview reports under the Business Overview or Financial Planning tabs.

The new layout separates standard Profit and Loss (P&L) statements from budget reports. To see condensed balances, you need to customize the specific budget report instead of filtering a standard P&L.

To group your accounts or view condensed balances in the new layout, open the specific budget report first, and then use the dedicated Customise buttons inside that screen. Here is how to do it:

  1. Click Reports on the left menu.
  2. Search for Budget vs. Actuals in the search bar.
  3. Open the report and click Customise to group your accounts.
  4. Click Run report to apply the customisation.
