Using the cashflow planner with a budget

Hi,

I'm looking to use the cashflow planner - if I add a budget into Quickbooks - will it use those values for the predicted balance?

Also, is it possible to look further ahead than 3 months? If you choose 12 months - it goes back and tells you what it has been.

Yes, the Cash flow planner calculates the projected balance based on the budget amounts you enter. However, you'll need to record these budget amounts as transactions within the planner. Let me provide you with more details about this QuickBooks Online (QBO) feature.

 

Please note that manually entered transactions in QBO will not appear in the planner chart. Only transactions from linked bank accounts and those manually entered directly within the Cash flow planner feature are included.

 

To add the budget amount, please follow the steps below:

 

  1. Navigate to Reports, select Financial planning, and then choose Cash flow planner.

  2. Click Add Transaction.
  3. In the Description box, enter Budget to help identify the nature of the transaction.
  4. Complete other details.
  5. Once done, hit Save.

 

This way, your budget will be added to the predicted balance in the planner.

 

Yes, you can extend your view beyond 3 months by selecting the 24 months option in the filter dropdown.

 

If you select 12 months, the planner chart will show data from the past 9 months, the current month, and 2 months ahead. This explains why you're currently seeing historical data.

 

By selecting 24 months, it provides a more comprehensive perspective of your cash flow, displaying data from the past 9 months, the current month, and 14 months into the future.

Thanks for this reply.

However, I think I might be looking at a different version of QBO to you. There's no Financial Planning under reports - my screen looks like the image attached.

Can you see the difference and let me know if what you said was still possible? Let me know if you need any more information.
