There is a Balance Sheet Detailed report but not a Profit and Loss detailed report. Why?

In QuickBooks Online, the missing Profit and Loss Detail report comes down entirely to your subscription tier, and it is not available in the Simple Start plan. If you are using Simple Start, you can easily generate a detailed P&L report when you click the total amount of Net Income.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and open the standard Profit and Loss report.
  2. Set your desired date range.
  3. Scroll down to the very bottom of the report to the Net Income row.
  4. Click directly on the Total Amount figure.

Once done, QuickBooks will instantly open a transaction detail view, showing you every individual line item, invoice, and expense that makes up your Profit and Loss for that period. From there, you can print, email, or export the detailed data to Excel.

If you are actually subscribed to a higher plan, where this report should be visible, you can try logging out of QuickBooks and logging back in to refresh your report list.

Following these steps will give you the exact financial breakdown you need for your business. If you run into any trouble generating this view or have other reporting questions, please let me know. I'm happy to assist.
