While there's no way to select several line items on a bill and delete them together in QuickBooks Online today, there are two options for deleting lines to choose from.

Delete lines one at a time

  1. Open the bill.
  2. For each line you want to remove, select the trash icon at the end of that row.
  3. Confirm the deletion if prompted.

Clear the whole bill and start over

If you're removing most or all of the lines, it's often faster to clear everything and re-enter just what you need.

  1. Open the bill.
  2. Select Clear all lines (in the Category details or Item details section) to remove every line in that section, or select Clear at the bottom of the bill to reset the whole form.
  3. Re-enter only the lines you want to keep.

If you'd like the ability to select and delete multiple lines at once, sending feedback through Gear icon, then Feedback lets QuickBooks' product team know it's wanted.

Hi @lindak1119,

Currently, you can only delete a single line item at a time in a bill.

However, you can click the Clear all lines or the Clear button to restore a bill back to the original form.

You can also share this with our developers by sending feedback. This will be a good option for future updates. Just go to the Gear icon then select Feedback.

How can QB get away with being SO UN-user-friendly???  So many examples!  This is classic.

I agree!!  I literally took 10 minutes deleting unused line items on my invoice that should take a second like Excel does.

It is soooo frustrating that you have not changed this yet.  It's been over 2 years since this thread started!

Hi there, @jenfrp.

I understand how inconvenient it is for you to delete each line item in a bill. In the meantime, QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have that ability. I highly recommend submitting your recommendations to our Product Development Team. To do that:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Profile, select Feedback.
  3. Enter your suggestions and click Next.

You may also visit our Customer feedback page to keep track of the new features added to QuickBooks.

After paying your bills, you can read this article if you want to email your receipts to QBO: Email receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.

Stay in touch with us if you need further assistance managing your bills. Stay safe!

I realise I am two years late on this, but do you have any idea how condescending that sounds in English?

I feel like you don't.

This is the customer service representative of saying 'Oh no! Anyway.' and it's only funny in a terrible kind of way.

We're nearing the end of 2024 and I still can't believe we don't have an option to delete multiple lines. It's such a time soak to delete one line at a time (+ checking the warning pop-up) that we're contemplating switching to another service. QB please develop this simple task ASAP! Please!
