How do I disable Modern View and stay in Classic View?

As of May 2026, QuickBooks Online finished moving all reports over to Modern View, and Classic is no longer available. If you had saved or customized reports, they carried over automatically, so nothing was lost on your end.

We know a lot of you got used to Classic view over the years, and this change means there's no toggle back to it. Here's the upside: Modern View runs on a newer foundation built to handle bigger data sets, add features faster, and surface insights like dashboard KPIs right where you're working.

You'll still find the tools you're used to in Modern View, including:

Reporting periods
Filters
Accounting methods
Display options
Comparisons
Showing or hiding active or non-zero-value rows and columns

And you get a few things classic view didn't have, like adding almost any attribute as a column, grouping and pivoting data for deeper analysis, built-in charts alongside your numbers, and exporting to Excel with live formulas intact for calculated rows and columns.

Everybody is screaming about how much they hate modern view (nobody at Intuit listens). So let me ask this: can anyone tell us what the advantages are? Please share!

Holy crap Quickbooks, why? Just why did yall have to update the app? The new style is way more complicated and it doesn't have every feature the old feature has. Example, when you convert estimates to invoices you can't write type in a description. So I'll have to go and open a whole new invoice instead of just hitting the convert button. Second example, I can't even go and add a discount. I have to just put my price down with the discount already deducted. I would be nice to show discounts on the invoice for customers to see. There's more little features missing on the new crap design. Seriously, change it back. Sad because I've had Quickbooks for 6+ years and I'm about to drop them. Holy crap, fix this and fix it fast!

Why is QB refusing to give customers what they want which is classic view. QB Online reporting was sold as so much better than Desktop, yet it actually is horrible. Did QB do anything to imporve reporting? No.

Can I assume QB Online will do nothing with this modern vs classic view? I shouldn't have to spend 20 minutes trying to reconfigure a saved report.

I guess this is what happens when you have no competition - you do whatever you want because you know you have little competition.

Wow, I'm surprised Intuit is saying that. Almost amazed, really. QB Online's reporting has always been weak, never even close to QB Desktop in capability. This is either a result of Intuit's marketing team's willful ignorance or they're just flat out lying.

can you guys really stop messing with this program - especially the modern view - HORRIBLE!!!! I m so tired of going in and out and making sure that it is correct!! Unless its a major bug dont fix it! I m ONE PERSON IN ACCOUNTING AND IM AT THE POINT TO SWITCH TO ANOTHER Accounting firm and then you update things and dont let us the customer that is paying $250 a month!! I think we have a major say on what is going on as you can see everyone is complaining about it!! Get with it - its like we are working on The Oregon Trail or carmen san diego!! Come on we should be able to pick and just our defaults!!! Please advise on how to handle moving fwd!!! Your customers are talking to you and YOU ARE NOT LISTENING!
