Can journal entry numbers be set to be automatic in numeric order?

Yes, QuickBooks can assigned automatically in a sequential numerical order by enabling Custom transaction numbers. Each new entry or transaction will increment higher than the previous one.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Click Accounts and Settings.
  3. Select the Sales tab, then tap the Sales form content pencil icon
  4. In this section, locate the "Custom transaction numbers" option and toggle the button to enable it.
  5. Hit Save and then Done.
