Can you setup international contractors in Quickbooks? Is there a place to add their W-8BEN Certificate of Tax Withholding form?

Welcome to the Community space, info.

Yes, you can set up an international contractor as a normal vendor but you don't need to tick 1099 because it's not required to submit if your contractor is not from the United States. Let me help you on how to do it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and choose Contractors.
  2. Select the Add a contractor button.
  3. Enter the name and email address, and click Add contractor.

Additionally, for the W-8BEN, you can that form for future purposes. If ever the IRS will call you, you have the proof that your contractor is filing the proper forms.

I've added this article to guide you in ensuring your compliance with state payroll tax regulations: Payroll Tax Compliance.
