Change item of an invoice from a closed year

Hi,

How can I change an item on an invoice from a closed year if I don't have the password to modify closed-year transactions?

I made an invoice in 2025 with the reference “A”, and now I need to change this reference to “B”, but I don't have the password to make changes in the system. Is there any way to fix it so that reference “A” shows up again in the inventory and reference “B” comes out?

To edit a transaction from a closed period, you must sign in as a Primary Admin or Company Admin to turn off or modify the closing date password.

Please note that editing invoices from a closed period will change your historical financial reports and tax filings.

Here's how to remove or update the password:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the top right.
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab and click Edit in the Accounting section.
  4. Under Closing date, update the password or select Allow changes after viewing a warning to bypass the password requirement.
  5. Then Save.

Once you have finished editing your transaction, you can lock your books back on to protect your records.
