Question

class tracking

We use class tracking for use tax payments and in the past we were able to assign a class to each invoice. A while back it start requiring us to apply the class not only to the invoice but to each item on the invoice, which takes a lot of our time. I have tried to go in the change the setting to invoice but that option is not available. Is there something I am missing?

Good afternoon adh1327,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! I am happy to help. You should be able to assign a class to the entire invoice by following these steps:

  1. Enable Class Tracking: Go to Edit > Preferences > Accounting > Company Preferences and make sure "Use class tracking for transactions" is checked.
  2. Choose how to assign classes: Select either "One for the entire transaction" or "One for each row in a transaction" in the Class Assignment settings.
  3. Assign the class when creating the invoice: You will see a class field or column where you can select the appropriate class for the invoice or its line items.

Let me know if you are still experiencing an issue. My team and I will be here to help further. See you soon.
