Good day, and welcome to the Community, metmom. I see that you're looking to switch back to the old invoice design in QBO.
Some QuickBooks Online accounts, specifically Simple Start and Essentials plans, have undergone a permanent migration to the new invoice layout. This means that users that are subscribed to these plans will no longer have the option to revert to the old format.
If you're using either one of these plans, this is the reason why you can no longer go back to the old format.
I'd also like to share that the new layout offers several benefits that you can appreciate over time.
This includes getting alerts when a customer has accepted and paid a transaction, previewing what your customers see, and offering more payment options like PayPal and Venmo.
