How do I add finance fees to a customer statement?

When I send a customer a statement where there is an overdue amount; the amount on their statement includes a finance charge - not the original charge amount. How do I create a statement that will include the finance charge as a separate item for their statement?

You can customize statements in QuickBooks Online to include all the details of your invoices, Terri.

In QuickBooks Online, late fees can be added to your invoices as an additional line item. To ensure that late fees are properly displayed on your customer's statement, make sure the List each transaction including all detail lines option is selected.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Click the Sales tab and select Statements.
  3. In the Statements section, choose the List each transaction including all detail lines option.
  4. To display amounts owed based on how many days they are overdue, turn on Show ageing table at the bottom of the statement.
  5. Click Save, then select Done.

After completing these steps, generate the customer's statement again. It will show all the details you've added to invoices, including the late fees.
