How to Bulk Add Account Numbers to Existing Chart of Accounts in QBO?

I appreciate your efforts in trying to bulk add account numbers in QuickBooks Online (Intuit Enterprise Suite), Pintadrew. Importing or adding bulk account numbers directly to existing accounts in the Chart of Accounts is unavailable. However, you can utilize the batch editing feature for this task.

Please note that enabling account numbers does not automatically assign them to your accounts. You'll need to manually add account numbers to your existing accounts to take advantage of this feature. Additionally, when you export your Chart of Accounts, modify it in Excel, and then attempt to re-import it, QuickBooks Online will flag this as a duplicate creation attempt, resulting in an error.

To proceed, ensure to include the Number column in your chart of accounts to display account numbers. In the Chart of Accounts window, click the Gear icon above the Actions column, check the Number box, and then close the settings.

Then, manually add account numbers to your existing accounts:

1. Above the Actions column, select the Pencil icon.
2. In the Number column, enter your account numbers.
   
   
    
3. Then, click Save.
