Please Don't Retire Classic Reports Until Modern Reports Reach Feature Parity
As a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, I rely on custom reports every month to prepare financial statements for multiple clients.
I have spent time recreating my reporting workflow in Modern reports because Classic reports are being retired. Unfortunately, routine reporting now takes longer than it did in Classic.
Some of the challenges I have encountered include:
- More clicks to complete routine tasks
- Report layouts that are less readable than Classic
- Customizations that do not always behave the same way as Classic reports
- Additional time spent verifying report settings before sending financial statements to clients
I am not opposed to improvements. If Modern reports truly become better than Classic, I will gladly use them. My concern is retiring Classic before Modern delivers the same efficiency, reliability, and ease of use that accounting professionals depend on every month.
I would rather see Intuit continue supporting both options until Modern reports reach full feature parity and users choose to switch because they want to, not because they no longer have a choice.
I would like to hear from other accountants and bookkeepers:
- Has Modern reporting improved your workflow?
- What Classic features or functionality are you still missing?
- If you prefer Modern, what has made it better for you?
I hope this discussion remains constructive so Intuit can better understand what accounting professionals need before Classic reports are retired.
