QBO won't let me reconcile a checking account that has a 0 beginning balance and a 0 ending balance (even though there are lots of transactions during the month).

There's even a little info box that reads "We've checked, and your bank transaction are ready to reconcile." But the "Start reconciling" button does nothing except highlight the "Statement ending balance" in red.

Thank you for providing the exact issue you're experiencing while attempting to reconcile your checking account, whydothis.

The red highlight on the statement Ending balance indicates that the field has been left blank. Since the beginning balance and ending balance for your account are both $0, you will need to manually enter 0 in the statement's Ending balance field to proceed with reconciling your account. Leaving it blank prevents QuickBooks from proceeding with the reconciliation process, as the software requires a value even if that value is zero.

Thanks, that did the trick. The “0.00” was visible, but I guess QBO filled that in by itself but didn’t accept it. Once I retyped it, it did indeed work properly.
