I'd be glad to share what I know about opening older backups using Intuit data protect in QuickBooks Desktop.

Once you choose view backup history, you can see the chronological list of your backups, from oldest to newest from the Backup Details page. Scroll through the history to locate the date and timestamp of the backup entry you're looking for; you can do so by Opening Intuit Data Protect and choosing View Backup History from the Main Intuit Data Protect window.
