Reconciliation Discrepancy resulting from changing Memo and Description

Has anyone encountered this issue?

My company uses QBO Advanced. I recently updated the Memo, Line Item Description, and Reference no. for a couple of Receive Payment transactions. These changes somehow threw off the beginning balance for the bank account that had received the payments. The "Reconciliation Discrepancy Report" indicates the Change Type as "Account Changed" for both transactions; however, I didn't change the account. All I changed were a couple of fields that aren't tied to the receiving account nor the dollar amount.

I called Priority Circle and they told me the only way to fix this was to reach out to our accountant and ask them to un-reconcile the periods in which those transactions occurred, and then I'll have to re-reconcile them. Is that really the only way to fix this? That seems like a lot of time and cost on my company's end, to fix what seems like a bug or glitch on the QB end.

Another observation on this issue is that the Total Difference shown in the "Reconciliation Discrepancy Report" doesn't match the sum of the two transactions that I changed. The total difference showing is $14,232.21 and the value of the two payments received is $16,696.29 + $2,489.93 = $19,186.22. I'm not an accountant, so maybe I'm missing something, but this also seems off.

Hoping the Community or a more seasoned QB Expert can help me troubleshoot, and I can avoid re-reconciling past periods.
