Error in QuickBooks Sales and Profit There is an issue with the Sales and Profit calculation in QuickBooks. The profit for today is not being correctly added to the profit from previous days. The system should calculate the profit from each sale based on the selling price minus the cost of the product. Today’s profit should then be added to the previous profit without replacing or deleting the previous amount.

When you noticed that your profit wasn’t adding up, what date range and accounting method did you choose? What you may be experiencing is likely related to your report settings.

Here are two things to check:

First, check your date range.  If the report is set to show only Today, it will show only today’s profit. Change it to All Dates, or a custom date range to see your total profit.

Second, check your accounting method.  If it's set to Cash basis, unpaid invoices won't show as profit until payment is received. If you switch to Accrual, you'll see the total profit when the sale happens, regardless of payment.
