What is going on with classes?!?

My classes just disappeared. When I go to the gear icon/all lists/classes, the still show up there. But they aren't available in my weekly timesheet, expense form, or bill form. I was just entering bills a little bit ago, and had no problem, but now when I click the arrow on the class field, none of my classes show up. Help! I can't do anything without classes.

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, SarahCO. I appreciate your detailed information.

Since your classes aren't showing as available on your weekly timesheet, expenses, or bills, I'd initially recommend checking the browser you're using. Browsers commonly store temporary internet files, like cached data and cookies, which can sometimes cause display issues on certain web pages.

You can try an incognito/private window to see if your classes are available to assign transactions to or not. If they display properly when browsing this way, can consider clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies. In the event you choose to do so, detailed steps for these processes can usually be found on your browser provider's website (Google, Firefox, etc.).

Some other troubleshooting steps I'd recommend trying are signing out and back in. If that doesn't fix it, you can try toggling the feature off, then turn it back on.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon.
  2. Go to Account and settings.
  3. Access your Advanced section, then Categories.
  4. Turn Track classes off and click Save.
  5. After turning the feature off, turn it back on, then select Save.

In the event classes still aren't displaying to be assigned to transactions, you can try checking your Assign Classes setting. In that same Categories section of your advanced account settings, check if Assign classes is set to One to entire transaction or One to each row. Switching this setting to your undesired setting, then back to the preferred setting can sometimes refresh the forms.

Also be sure to try restarting your browser if you haven't yet (closing and re-opening it), or perhaps trying to assign classes to transactions in a different supported browser. I'd additionally recommend confirming you meet each of the platform's system requirements, as not meeting them can sometimes cause unexpected behaviors within QuickBooks.

If none of the above-mentioned troubleshooting gets them displaying properly, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with classes which may come in handy moving forward: Create & manage classes
