Why does Modern View return no results for large date ranges in QuickBooks Online reports, and is Classic View still available?

Got the email today that Quickbooks Online is phasing out permanently classic view in favor of the new "pretty" but less functional modern view without the ability to change back. I can't be the only one that finds modern view does not work as well as classic view. For example, viewing large range of dates and modern view finds no results. We are high volume and do have a lot of data. I also find modern view to be substantially slower and less responsive.

Nonetheless, QBO does not listen to customer and pushes "new and improved" that's really a big downgrade.

Classic View reports are no longer available in QuickBooks Online, but your data hasn’t changed. Modern reports still show all of the same information as Classic, with even more tools and customizations available.

If a report seems to return no results for a large date range

  1. Open the report and check the date range filter at the top, confirming the start and end dates are what you expect.
  2. Try narrowing the range (for example, one quarter instead of a full year) to confirm the underlying data displays correctly at a smaller scale.
  3. Check any other active filters (accounts, customers, classes, locations) that might be unintentionally excluding results alongside the date range.
  4. If no data is available, you can also try accessing your account via a private or incognito window to rule out a browser issue.

I hear your sentiments, cpriest10.

I completely understand your frustration when a product suddenly changes its user interface's features. Adapting to new designs and features can be challenging, and it may take some time to get accustomed to them.

As we value your input and suggestions, I recommend that you forward your feedback to our Product Development Team. They will review your suggestions and work on incorporating them into future updates.

Here's how to send feedback:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Feedback under Profile.
  3. Share your feedback.
  4.  Click Next to submit.

To keep track of your requests and other program updates, you can always check their status via the QuickBooks Online Customer Feedback page.

Moreover, to learn more about the new feature rollouts, you can check this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can check out these articles if you need to process payments and personalize your sales forms in the future:

Please feel free to ask again if you have any further QuickBooks-related concerns. We are available 24/7 to help you with all of your queries. Stay safe!

@cpriest10   SOOOOOOO many of us are NOT happy about them NOT listening to what we want and need.

@JuliaMikkaelaQ   You know as well as the rest of us that leaving "feedback" won't do a d*mn thing.  It's not cool that you, and all the other QB employees suggest that any of us do that.
