I appreciate you for posting here, @jonathan-b4tment. I'd be glad to share some details about the split option in QuickBooks Self-employed (QBSE).
If you're using the QBSE mobile app and don't see the option to split transactions, you can reset the app to solve the problem. Unusual behaviors like this have caused data damage or stored cached files in your QBSE mobile app. This step will refresh your device and set it to its default state. To do so, follow the steps outlined below:
For iOS
Go to Settings and tap General.
Click iPhone Storage, then select the QuickBooks Online app.
Tap Offload App. This will free up the storage without deleting your app's documents and data.
For Android
Go to the Menu ☰ icon and tap More Options ⋮.
Click on Settings, then Refresh Data.
Select YES to confirm.
If the issue persists after this process, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Once done, double-check if you can split transactions successfully.
However, if you're utilizing a web browser when managing your transactions, please know that you can only split transactions by amount in the QBSE mobile app.
When you're ready, here's how you can split transactions on an iPhone, iPad (iOS), or Android phone or tablet:
Go to the Transactions menu. On Android, select the menu ☰ icon and then Transactions.
Find and select the transaction you want to split.
Select Edit.
Select the Split option.
In the Category column, select Personal or a business category for each split.
In the Amount column, enter the amount for each split.
