Question

Why is the Statement of Activity by Class so poorly programmed? My company has a lot of classes, the report stops reporting classes and totals it into "Other".

The grouping of additional classes under Other in the Statement of Activity by Class report can be challenging for users with detailed reporting needs, greg.

Let’s break down how the system functions and explore potential alternatives.

In Modern View, QuickBooks Online's Statement of Activity by Class report displays up to 100 classes individually. Any additional classes beyond the first 100 are grouped under the 'Others' column.

Since this functionality is specific to Modern View, we welcome your suggestions to improve it. You can share your ideas directly with our Product Development Team to help shape future updates and provide solutions for the user community.

Let me guide you through the process of submitting your idea:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Under the Profile column, choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  4. Click the Next button.

You can visit Intuit's Product Updates webpage to stay up-to-date with the latest news about product enhancements.

For the time being, here are alternatives to display all your classes. First, you can switch to classic view. This report view displays all classes individually. Check out the image below for visual reference.

If this isn't attainable,
filter the Statement of Activity by Class report by subsets of classes. This creates smaller, more manageable reports and avoids the Others grouping. Then, export the filtered reports to Excel. Once exported, reorganize and analyze the data to view all classes without restriction.

Let me know in the comments if you have further questions about managing your reports.

@greg155 So the solution to your issue is simply to go back to using Classic View. This is just another example where Quickbooks Modern View actively REMOVES functionality from the previous version.

RE: Why is the Statement of Activity by Class so poorly programmed?

That way it matches the rest of QuickBooks Online.  Consistency is good, right?
