Question

Hey there, how do I set custom invoice #'s for recurring invoices? I can't seem to find where I have the ability to update in the Recurring Invoice templates.

Hi a3creativesoluti,

It's awesome to see that you're still working with recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online. I hope they're helping you save time by cutting down on the amount of work you have to do to create invoices for your customers. I'd be happy to go over how invoice numbering works with recurring transactions.

Because a recurring transaction is a transaction designed to be automatically generated by the system, the system will automatically choose the next number in your sales form numbering sequence when the invoice is created. With this in mind, there isn't a way to set up a set of unique invoice numbers just for your recurring invoice transactions. That's an interesting idea, though, and I recommend submitting it to our product development team using the steps here: How do I submit feedback?

Feedback is a great way to share your ideas with us as the program forwards your comments to the product team for consideration in future updates. If you're ever curious about what features have been added to the program, I recommend checking out our QuickBooks Online Feature & Product Updates page. Feel free to bookmark it and check on it from time to time to see what's new.

Enjoy your week. :)
