Can I get the tax included in the sum of 2 different transactions that I don't want to be taxed?

Machin hire. I get charged £100. I returned machine and £73 gets returned to me. Te difference between these numbers is what I have been charged and that needs to include tax. How do I tell the computer this info please?

If you're recording a bill or charge for $100 and it's taxable, the tax will be applied to the entire $100, Completelandscapes1.

Since you received a $73 refund and only want the remaining $27 to be taxed, here's what you can do. First, modify the original invoice from $100 to $73 and set it to NO VAT. If the refund is not yet recorded, create a deposit (make sure to use the supplier's name and the correct account).

To properly tax the $27, create a separate bill for that amount and select the correct VAT code to make it taxable.

An accountant can also provide other options for recording these transactions correctly. If you don't have an accountant, I can help you find one. Feel free to visit this page: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
