Question

How do I change the sales tax filing to accrual? The company is set to accrual but the sales tax filing is showing cash basis and I cannot change it.

Hello shereenewebb,

Don't worry! I can sort this out with you. Great job with verifying your company settings as those definitely play a role in how things display in QuickBooks Online. When it comes to sales tax, however, it also have its own settings for this. I'll show you where to find it.

  1. Select Taxes from the left menu.
  2. Choose Manage sales tax.
  3. Find the sales tax agency in question and choose the down arrow beside Add rate.
  4. Choose Edit agency settings.
  5. Choose Accrual from the Reporting method drop-down.
  6. Hit Save.

That should do it! Give it a shot and let me know if you have more questions.

Have a great day.
