Once you've set up your sales tax in QBO and have added the beginning of the sales tax period, modifying it is no longer available. However, can change the next period following these steps:

1. Sign in to QuickBooks.
2. Click on Taxes at the left pane.
3. Tap on Sales tax, then Manage sales tax.
4. Select the tax agency, then click Edit agency settings.
5. Update the period from there.
6. Hit Save, then Done.

After that, you're now ready to track sales taxes from customers.
