Has anyone had their estimated tax change, and is now saying you're overdue?

I have never had this issue. Suddenly, it is telling me I owe more money. I paid what they estimated I should pay.

To resolve the incorrect overdue status, categorize the payment as "Estimated taxes" and ensure it is linked to the correct quarter. QuickBooks shows this error because unlinked or uncategorized transactions don’t automatically count toward your quarterly tax balance.

To fix this, update your transaction category. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu, locate the tax payment you made.
  2. Ensure it is categorized for Business as Estimated taxes.
  3. Select the Type/Category column to make changes.
  4. Once updated, the payment will be properly recorded.

Next, match the payments to the correct quarter:

  1. Go to Taxes and click the quarter you paid.
  2. Look for your tax payment.
  3. If it’s not showing, select Find your estimated tax payments.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to locate and match the correct payment.
  5. Return to the Taxes menu.
  6. Confirm the payment is now matched to the correct quarter.

Once the payment is correctly categorized and matched to the right quarter, the “overdue” status will update, and your tax records will reflect the correct balance.
