We are a non-profit in Kentucky. KY will not provide a KEIN to non-profits. Is there a work around so that QB will auto file. You can't leave the box blank. Thank You

Thank you for reaching out, Bishopisc. Since QuickBooks Online Payroll requires a Kentucky Employer Identification Number (KEIN) to process and auto-file payroll taxes, and Kentucky does not provide KEINs for non-profits, the best approach is to reach out directly to the Kentucky Department of Revenue or the Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance.

They can provide official guidance on how non-profits can handle payroll tax filings in the absence of a KEIN.

So, it’s always best to follow state-specific guidance. I highly recommend contacting state offices directly to ensure compliance and explore alternatives.
