TurboTax Online and QuickBooks Online are on different Intuit User IDs. How can I use my current QBO data in TurboTax Online without losing prior TurboTax history?

Hi Community,

I’m using TurboTax Online and QuickBooks Online, and I’m trying to figure out how to make them work together when they are tied to different Intuit User IDs.

Here is my situation:

  • My current QuickBooks Online company is under my business Intuit User ID

  • My TurboTax Online account with all of my prior year filing history is under a different Intuit User ID

  • Both accounts show the same email address and same phone number, but the User IDs are different

  • When I log into TurboTax Online from inside QuickBooks Online, it looks like a brand new TurboTax account and does not show my past filing history.  However, from that path, it seems to recognize my current QuickBooks Online data

  • When I log into my original TurboTax Online account, I can see all of my past returns and purchases, but it does not connect to my current QuickBooks Online company

What I need to know is:

  • Is there any way to get TurboTax Online and my current QuickBooks Online company to communicate when they are under different Intuit User IDs?
  • If not, what is the recommended workaround so I can still use my current QuickBooks Online data for taxes while keeping access to my prior TurboTax Online filing history?
  • Has anyone dealt with this exact situation where TurboTax Online and QuickBooks Online share the same email address, but still behave like separate accounts because the User IDs are different?
  • Is there a safe way to connect them without losing either my current QBO access or my TurboTax history?

My main goal is to:

  • use my existing TurboTax account, with past history, and import my activee QuickBooks Online company, without losing my prior year TurboTax Online history.

Thanks for the details, travelqueen. That option is unavailable because TurboTax Online and QuickBooks Online are separate platforms with their own built-in tax features, so they can't work together. To maintain your current data and filing history, you must keep both subscriptions active.

Feel free to respond if you have clarification or additional concerns. I'm always here to help!
