Question

Why has Quickbooks Self Employed stop counting milage as a deduction? I have it set to 100% business use, and all miles are classified as Business.

It used to include this in my deductions. Now it stopped. All trips have been reviewed, all are classified as business. Nothing changed except it stopped counting milage as a deduction on the "Taxes" area

This issue is usually caused by a date mismatch, an incomplete vehicle profile, or a temporary system sync issue.

To resolve this, check the tax year filter:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Click the Annual taxes tab.
  3. Choose the appropriate year from the dropdown to ensure it matches the timeframe of your trips.

You can also verify your business start date in the Vehicle Information section. If this date is set after your earliest tracked trip of the year, QuickBooks will exclude those miles. Ensure it's set to on or before your first trip.

If the deduction still doesn't appear, log out of QuickBooks Self-Employed and log back in to refresh your session and force a data re-sync.
