Bank transfers: There is nowhere to record the locations

When I am recording Bank transfers there is nowhere to record the locations so it ends up in a 'not specified' column. I have the location tracking switched on. Consequently, my reports are as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Is there a solution to this? We pay extra to get Locations and classes so it's not really good enough

Hello, AG777. Bank Transfer transactions in QuickBooks Online are designed for straightforward money transfers and do not support Location tracking. Since these transfers involve moving money between balance sheet accounts, they do not affect profit and loss reports, where location tracking is utilized. This is why the data appears in the Not Specified column.

As a workaround, record the move as two separate transactions. First, create an expense or cheque from the source account and assign the location. Then, create a deposit into the destination account using that same location. This ensures both sides of the transaction are tagged correctly for your reports.

To fix existing transfers, you'll need to delete them and re-enter them using the two-transaction method. Before deleting, export a list or take screenshots so you have the exact dates and amounts ready to recreate.
