When QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) lets you pick dates from the current year, it means the date picker you're using isn't showing the full range. QBSE allows adding cash for the prior tax year, but the date selector can be limited depending on the device or app you're using.

If you're on the mobile app, you can switch to a web browser instead. The browser version shows the full date range, including past years.
