Question

Exclude transactions

Hi,

Quick question regarding supplier refunds.
If I haven't entered their invoice into quickbooks and they have refunded me in full, can I just exclude the payment and the refund? Or do I need to add the invoice and also raise a supplier credit and then match both off from the bank feed

Thanks in advance

Yes, Bja. You can exclude both the payment and the refund from your bank feed if you prefer.

Please note that if you exclude these transactions, they will not appear in your financial reports and won’t be tracked in your supplier’s records.

However, if you’d prefer to maintain accurate records and ensure the transactions are reflected in your supplier’s activity, you can record them in QuickBooks. Start by entering the original expense to reflect the payment made to the supplier.

Next, record the refund you received as a Bank Deposit. Here’s how:

  1. Click + Create.
  2. Select Bank deposit.
  3. From the Account dropdown, select the account where the refund was deposited.
  4. Fill in the necessary information.
  5. Once done, click Save and close.
