How do I input a negative service item on my invoice via mobile app. It just keeps calculating it as a positive figure.

You can enter a negative service item on an invoice, but you must also include another service item that brings the total to zero or a positive value. Invoices cannot be saved with a negative total amount, whether you are using QuickBooks through the mobile app or the web version.

You might consider creating a Credit note instead. This effectively acts as a 'negative invoice' to reduce or cancel a balance. However, please note that the Credit note feature is only available for QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscriptions, but not within the Solopreneur plan.
