I have a transaction on my bank statement of for example 4,240.23. There is a paid Bill of 240.23 and $4,000 a transfer to another bank. How do I split and match this transaction?

If your bank is already connected to QuickBooks, you can record a bank transaction covering two different amounts by matching it to the bill first and resolving the difference as a transfer.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Bank transactions.
  2. Select the bank transaction and click Match.
  3. Check the Bill you created.
  4. Click If needed, resolve the difference.
  5. Select the Payee and the Category for the bank transfer.
  6. Click Match.

For manual entry, record two separate transactions. Make a bill payment for $240.23 and a transfer for $4,000.00, and date both to match your bank statement.
