Question

I need to inoice an insurer for repairs completed to a client of theirs vehicle. Im vat reg but i then have to invoice the vat portion to a business how do i do this ?

Hello Juliecardoc, thanks for posting on the Community

 

For the first part, you can enter a sales invoice with the insurer selected as the Customer, and the service category for repairs selected in the Product/Service drop-down. Then, complete all other fields on the invoice as you see fit before sending. 

 

If you don't already have a category for repairs, you can select + Add new on the product/service drop-down when entering the invoice, or navigate to the main Cog > Products and Services to create this beforehand. 

 

For the second part, if you are receiving VAT (from the business) you can follow our guide to add a 100% VAT transaction in QuickBooks Online. Please note, when entering this you will need to create an invoice, not an expense as shown on the guide.
