QuickBooks' Snap and Upload receipt feature uses optical character recognition (OCR) to extract details, which can split multi-item receipts into separate line items. To prevent it from splitting, you can turn off the Show breakdown option.

  1. Hover over All apps, then Accounting, and select Receipts.
  2. In the For review tab, click the Review link to open the uploaded receipt.
  3. If the Autofill panel isn’t visible, select the Intuit Assist icon.
  4. Turn off the Show breakdown option, and select Yes if prompted.
  5. Review the details before hitting Save and close.

You can also manually create a bill or expense transaction and attach the receipt.

If I have a receipt with some 60+ line items it is a nuisance. The whole point is to get away from manual entries. Didn’t revert to these splits until very recently

I understand how overwhelming it can be to deal with a receipt that has a huge number of line items. To keep your receipt as a single summarized purchase instead of individual items, let's turn off the Show breakdown option.

  1. Go to All apps, then Accounting.
  2. Select Receipts and head to the For review tab.
  3. Click Review on the uploaded receipt to open the details.
  4. Select the Intuit Assist icon if the Autofill panel is not showing
  5. Disable the Show breakdown option, then select Yes from the prompt.
  6. Review the details of the receipt and hit Save and close when you're done.
