Similar to the web version, the QuickBooks Online app utilizes cached data to enhance performance by speeding up the loading of information, Neil. However, over time, this cache may become outdated or corrupted, potentially causing issues.

Before troubleshooting the app, let's first verify if this is an app-specific issue. Try logging in via your phone's web browser and saving the invoice with VAT. If it works, let's proceed with clearing the app's cache and refreshing its data.

Here are the steps to clear the cache and refresh the app's data.

To clear the cache: 

1. Close and restart the app.
2. Open your device Settings.
3. Select Apps.
4. Choose the QuickBooks app from the list, then select Storage.
5. Select clear data.
6. Power down and restart your device.

If the issue persists, we can refresh your data to ensure you have downloaded the updated security settings. 

For Android:

1. Go to Menu, then select More Options.
2. Tap Settings, and click Refresh Data.
3. Tap YES to confirm.

For iOS:

1. Go to Settings, then tap General.
2. Tap iPhone Storage, then tap the QuickBooks Online app.
3. Tap Offload App.

This will free up the storage without deleting your app's documents and data.
