I have run a vat return as a test for a new company it is open on QB & not submitted to HMRC I need to amend some items to correct it so how do I delete the open return?

Thanks for you post and welcome to the community!

You cannot delete the open return, you would need to edit or delete transactions posting to the return or add transactions with a VAT code to change the figure. To see the transactions currently posting to the return, go to Taxes > Prepare return and click into the figure against the relevant boxes.
