The company's records are being moved from Sage to Quickbooks. Do I have to register the company for vat on quickbooks as though it is a new mtd registration ?

On sage are you VAT MTD Registered?  

If you are signed up to HMRC then you would be able to continue to use it in Quickbooks as long as the information is right.
