Question

We switched to QBO from Desktop in May 2025. Now we are being told we need to pay a $599.95 annual license fee? Why do we need to pay this on top of the subscription?

I told the rep from Quickbooks that we no longer use Desktop and now use QBO but she insisted the license fee was still required and unrelated to the software used.

Hi Zandra,

To ensure the person you speak with is from QuickBooks and the information they provided is accurate, I suggest you contact our Live Support team directly to clarify the annual license fee, as it may be related to your Desktop license that was not properly canceled.

Here's how to reach Support:

  1. Click the (?) Help icon.
  2. Enter "Live Support" in the Assistant tab, then briefly describe your concern.
  3. Choose either Contact an expert or I still need an expert option.

To connect successfully, check the Support hours section in this article: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.

If you have any other concerns, don't hesitate to leave a comment.
