Responding to a payment request from a contractor, with all his Canadian banking details, I want to direct deposit to his account. Can this be done. If so, how?

Welcome to the Community, @kalyunus.

Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) Canada doesn't support sending direct-deposit payments to contractors. Direct deposit is only available for employees paid through QuickBooks Payroll.

You can still set up your contractor in QBO so you can track and record their payments properly.

Here's how:

  1. Go to All apps, then select Expenses & Bills.
  2. Select Supplier, then click New Supplier.
  3. Enter the contractor's information.
  4. Under Additional info, choose the correct form tracking (T4A or T5018).
    Note:  If you're not sure what form they should receive, consult with your accountant.  If you don't have one, follow this link to locate a ProAdvisor in your area.
  5. Select the Supplier type (Individual or Business).
  6. When finished, hit Save.

Once the supplier is set up, you can pay them outside of QuickBooks and then record the payment in QBO using an Expense or a cheque.

For more details on recording the payment, you can explore this article: Enter and manage expenses in QuickBooks Online.

@kalyunus

You need to use a 3rd party app to do so.
