Question

Cannot connect any CIBC bank or credit card account: "Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred". All accounts have been shared, QBO will not pass this point.

I have given all account sharing permissions via CIBC Smarkbanking for business & QBO can see the account but it will not add it

Hello there, sarahsnaturalnails.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concern about connecting your CIBC bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let's get this resolved.

Bank connection issues with QBO can sometimes occur due to system maintenance or updates taking place on your bank's end. I suggest signing in to your online banking app or contacting their customer support team to confirm if there is an ongoing one.

If there's no bank maintenance activity, try connecting your CIBC bank to QBO using a private or incognito browser window. Alternatively, you can use other supported browsers when logging in to your QBO account and try re-establishing a bank connection with CIBC Bank.

If the issue persists, you can contact our Live Support team. They have tools like screen sharing to identify and resolve the problem effectively.

Here's how to connect with them:

  1. Sign in to QBO and select (?) Help.
  2. Click on how you want to get help:
    • Assistant tab: In the Type or ask something field, enter your question or the topic you need help with.
    • Search tab: Use the Search questions, keywords, or topics field to enter your question or the topic you need help with.

For timely assistance, please refer to this article for our support hours: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.

Feel free to share any further questions in the comments below.
