You'll first have to fix the issue with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), so you'll be able to download your client's file, sf03.
QuickBooks Desktop 2018 isn’t opening because it’s not fully compatible with Windows 11. While we can try some troubleshooting steps to get it working again, please note that these may not fully resolve the issue due to the compatibility limitations. For a permanent solution, I recommend upgrading to a newer version of QBDT (2022 or later) that supports Windows 11.
When you're ready, start by running the Quick Fix My Program tool from the QuickBooks Tools Hub. If you don’t have the Tools Hub installed, you’ll need to set it up first. Here’s how:
Close QuickBooks.
Download the most recent version (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).Note: If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be at the bottom.
Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
After that, run the Quick Fix my Program from the Tools Hub to close any open background processes QuickBooks uses and repair your program. To do this, follow these steps:
In the QuickBooks Tools Hub, select Program Problems.
Select Quick Fix my Program.
Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.
If the issue continues, proceed with the next steps in this article, starting with Solution 2: QuickBooks Desktop won't open.
After the issue is resolved and QuickBooks opens, you can download your client's file by following these steps:
You'll receive an email from Intuit containing a link to download your client's company file.
Access the download link and you'll receive another email with the one-time password your client provided during the upload.
Enter this password to download the accountant's copy.
Open the file in QuickBooks to make the necessary changes.
