The Mileage Tracking feature in QuickBooks Online makes a great addition to your business bookkeeping toolbox. Many businesses keep track of their trips so they can claim those expenses at year-end. I'd be happy to shed some light on the options available with Mileage Tracking, as well as the limitations.
When adding a new vehicle, QBO offers two options for tracking your trips:
1. By recording odometer readings.
2. By entering the total km.
Since your car's odometer will record the distance in Kilometres, this is how QBO has been designed to track and record your trips, whether you choose option 1 or 2 listed above.
I can see how having the option to track your trips in Miles versus Kilometres would be handy depending on your specific needs. I'd recommend submitting feedback about this to our product engineers by clicking the Gear icon > Feedback.
I hope this helps clear things up for you. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our tech support team.
Have a great day.
