i have a closing date of jan 1, 2026. i am trying to reconcile a bank plc for the month with a 0.00 balance for feb but it will not let me do a reconciliation for march with a balance.

Usually, your closing date won’t prevent you from reconciling March unless a transaction was changed or dated back to before you finished February.

 

To narrow this down, when you say February had a $0.00 balance, do you mean there were no transactions in the account, or that the ending statement balance was exactly $0.00? Also, is the beginning balance in March showing something different, or are you seeing a specific error message?

 

One common reason a reconciliation won’t go through is a mismatch between your bank statement and the transactions selected in QuickBooks. Even a small difference can cause this, and QuickBooks will ask you to review it before you can continue.

 

It’s also a good idea to ensure the Statement Date is entered correctly, since an incorrect date can affect the reconciliation process.
