I have questions regarding custom fields for Customers. 1. Quickbooks Desktop only provides for a maximum of 7 custom fields by default. Can this be increased? My client needs a lot more. 2. Is there a way to manage the data type in a custom field? By default they are text, but I want to limit entries to specific formats such as date. 3. Is there a way to reorder the custom fields after creation? My client has fields created at different times and the display of the fields is out of practical usage order. Thank you!
Since Quickbooks will only accept a certain # of characters in the vendor name (or names in other list), the name will be truncated even in the cheques that we issue. Lately, the bank had rejected those cheques. Is there a way to enter names that are 46 characters (including blank space in the name) long? Thanks!PPMCKC

Hey All, Do we have instructions for setting up severance payments in QuickBooks Desktop? I’ve been unable to configure it correctly. When I try to set up severance pay, the system only gives me options to add wages, additions, deductions, company contributions, and other taxes. From my understanding, severance should not be reported on Box 14—only on Box 66 or 67. It should also be exempt from CPP and EI contributions, with only federal and provincial taxes applied. Additionally, since the severance will be paid as a lump sum along with wages and termination pay, the taxes should be calculated accordingly. How can I confirm if the taxes are being applied correctly in this scenario? Thanks in advance!

We sent an invoice to the client. And when they access the invoice link, there is no option to pay with bank. It's telling them to "You'll need to contact *company name* to pay this invoice. Anyone who encountered this issue? How did you resolve it?
I had created a accountant copy, but I need to do some adjustments. I want to cancel the accountant copy, after I do the adjustments, I will recreate the accountant copy. My question is that How can I cancel the accountant copy on the Quickbooks Enterprise 24 version

There is a downloadable update file for QuickBooks Desktop 2024 called "Update340r9_11834003_en_STD.exe" [removed] I am downloading an update file in QBDT that is 525,535 bytes long. It is an extremely slow download and 80% has taken over two hours. Unfortunately, QBDT update does not show the name of the file or the update number. Are the two files the same? I need to re-reconcile several months back because I had to void a cheque that stale dated. However, when I remove the "R" from some journal entry transactions in the "Account History" I'm receiving an error "The sum of split amounts must be equal to zero" (See attached). I don't understand what this means and why it's causing an issue? The entries are balanced
They have deducted payroll tax money a week ago but will not allow me to make a payroll submission to pay my employees without sending them a wire transfer in the same amount of money they have already been sitting on. Apparently it hasn't cleared something in their system although the money has been withdrawn from my account.

Hi, I am in the process of changing accountant, and my old accountant transferred ownership/admin rights of Quickbooks to me. I was sent an email to join Quickbooks which I did after providing my details.However, when I try to view billing and subscriptions, I get a message saying I don't have permission. My accountant said that she cannot do anything on her end since she transferred ownership/admin rights to me. The weird thing is I am also stuck on "accountant view" and I cannot switch to business view at all; it shows the message "looks like you cannot switch user view" (Please see second screenshot). I am novice when it comes to Quickbooks so I would be grateful for any help.
Information about inventory, COGS, etc is just too overwhelming. Trying to contact support over the phone is another struggle. I use QB desktop for my rental business and works fine. I am trying to set up my books for a used car sale business. I have an idea of what inventory, COGS etc are. However, ensuring that COGS is tracked and updated properly as well as billing customer accordingly is quite confusing. In other words, how can I track all the expenses we pay for and how do I bill the customer so that at the end, I can see how much I paid and how much of a profit I make when I sell one car (example)? Some suggested to enable Class and some suggested to enable expense time and costs. Any help would be appreciated.
